With the indicators about news reporting in Gender Sensitive Indicators for Media formulated by UNESCO as basic indicators,the research group takes full consideration of the research focuses of mass media’s communication of the value of gender equality and designs a series of indicators in the monitoring of five news programs in mainland China,i.e.,“Jiangsu News Watch” of Jiangsu TV,“News at Noon” of Guangdong TV,“News at 12 Am” of TianJin TV,“Daily News” of Anhui TV and “Wujian Sanbailiushi Du” of Qinghai TV. The monitoring results show that on the whole TV’s awareness of spreading the value of gender equality is not strong,and the representation of the value of gender equality lacks diversity. News media should attach great importance to their responsibility and influence in terms of the communication of the value of gender equality. Moreover,news media should improve gender awareness and sensitivity so as to better spread the value of gender equality.
