The year 2013 and 2014 are important stages for China’s media and women’s development. Media continue playing positive role in promoting legislation and public policies by way of agenda-setting and representation of gender problems. Media portray as well as construct gender implications, spread brand-new mode of gender relations and gender concepts and enrich gender culture. The new media has been providing a broad platform for gender communication. And in the field of media and women’s development, there are more cooperation and dialogue between China and the international society. However, the low representation of women and women’s development, the lack of gender awareness among media professionals, and the gender discrimination and gender bias in new media and social media are the problems which cannot be ignored. It’s suggested that measures should be taken to promote China’s media and women’s development such as the top design and overall arrangement, the construction of media laws and regulation, and cooperation and dialogue with international society, etc.
