The paper proposes the use of indexes for evaluation of Guangzhou’s urban transit operation，which is centered on the traffic jams，travel time reliability，and the travelling comfortableness，etc.，to survey Guangzhou’s transit operation from two aspects：the trips made in private automotive vehicles and by public transportation system. And through computing the indexes and analyzing the computed results，the paper presents the changing trend of traffic jams in Guangzhou’s urban road network in the year 2014，and the traffic congestion and crowding characteristics of trips by public transportation system.
