In 2014,the Renzi government came into power and launched the political reform process mainly comprising the electoral law reform and parliamentary reform,aiming to improve the efficiency of the political system and to create necessary conditions for economic structural reforms. In terms of economic policy,the Italian government was shifting from an austerity-dominant orientation to an emphasis on the combination of both fiscal consolidation and economic growth. However,as neither the domestic nor international economic environments improved significantly,Italy hadn’t yet pulled itself out of the economic recession. In addition to dealing with the major international issues such as the Ukraine crisis,holding the EU’s rotating presidency was Italy’s key diplomatic task in this year. Promoted by the successful exchange of visits by the two Premiers,the China-Italy relations entered a new stage of rapid development.
