The SDP-leading government made several reshuffles in 2014. The SDP failed in the presidential election in November 2014 and would face challenges from the central-right parties,especially in the parliamentary election to be held in 2016. Despite continuous deflation,the Romanian economy remained stable and performed better than that of most of the other EU members. The Central-left government took a series of measures to improve social welfare and promote economic development. Romania supported the EU in its dealing with the Ukraine crisis and tried to keep independent energy supply. Romania is keeping a comprehensive and friendly relationship with China under the framework of the “16+1” mechanism.
