Lithuania maintained political stability in 2014. After the eviction of the Lithuanian Poles’ Electoral Action from the coalition government,the ruling coalition was composed of the Social Democratic Party,the Labour Party and the Order and Justice Party. The incumbent president Grybauskaite was reelected in the presidential elections. Lithuania decided to join the euro zone on January 1st,2015. Driven mainly by the growth in domestic demands,Lithuania’s economic growth rate reached 2.9% in 2014. In the context of the Ukraine crisis,Lithuania-Russia relations became soured and Lithuania-America relations improved. Lithuania maintained good relations with China.
