The parliamentary election was held smoothly in 2014，after which a three-party coalition government led by Laimdota Straujuma was formed. Under the influences of the adverse external economic environment，slower economic growth was observed in Latvia. As the Ukraine crisis unfolded，the relationship between Latvia and the United States had been strengthened，while that between Latvia and Russia deteriorated.
