The ruling coalition formed by the People’s Party for Freedom and Democracy and Labour Party lost a number of seats in the 2014 local elections,which would damage the stability of the coalition government. The economic policies of the Dutch government focused mainly on medium-term growth while the business environment had been obviously improved. However,the whole economy was still confronted with multi-level challenges. The surge of the xenophobia and exclusive emotions endangered the Dutch society’s order and security and the deepening concerns about the social inclusion and immigration issues brought about an obvious split within the Dutch society. The Chinese President paid a state visit to the Netherlands for the first time and both countries established a comprehensive partnership stressing openness and pragmatism. The bilateral cooperation has been furthered in many fields.
