Since the 1980s,strategic planning has been widely employed by universities as an administrative tool and was deemed crucial to the survival and growth of higher education institutes. From a strategic management perspective, forming a strategy is not easy for any universities, and implementation of the strategy campus-wide effectively is even more complicated and challenging. This paper based its analysis on the reasons of failed strategy implementation, and paid special attention to factors known to drive effective strategy implementation, such as the strategic leadership, organizational structure, annual plans, performance management, university culture, and support system. The goal is to explore the path to improve the outcome of strategy implementation for universities.
