Since the Sixteenth Communist Party Congress, the State Council has issued a number of documents, gradually restructuring the cultural affairs system. The system can be mainly divided into two aspects: cultural undertakings and cultural industries. On one hand, cultural industries have been elevated to be our country's strategic industries. On the other hand, the reform of the cultural undertakings put forward the initiative to build a public cultural service system. The resolution adopted at the Sixth Plenary Session of the Seventeenth Communist Party Congress in 2011 promulgated clearly the goal to build a socialist country of cultural power, indicating that China will enter a period of rapid growth for socialist cultural development. This essay explores the experience and accomplishments in China's cultural construction on the basis of theoretical analysis. It reveals current challenges and opportunities, and attempts to put forward directions and suggestions for future cultural development and prosperity.
