In recent years, there were considerable impacts on marine environment and coastal residents caused by continuous incidents of oil spills in China. Therefore,marine ecological and environmental protection in China are facing grim situations and it is quite essential and urgent to strengthen and improve China's offshore oil spill emergency response capacity. Compared with other typical countries, emergency response capabilities in China, specifically in China's ocean oil spill, are comparatively but obviously insufficient. In accordance with the actual situation in China, this paper aimed to provide valuable suggestions in terms of national legislation, institutional mechanisms, policy support, corporate responsibility and international cooperation for improvements. <<
