As the key component of the sports industry, the development of sporting events in China during the period 2011 to 2013, witnessed great changes in terms of the range of sporting events hosted, an increase in the number of locations and venues hosting events and an increase in the number of sports organizing committees capable of handling events. Meanwhile, the industry is still facing a number of problems such as over centralized operational control, broadcasting rights being held exclusively by a monopoly of media networks, a lack of talent specialists within the industry and the existence of many outdated operational practices.
