The supervision by the people's congresses is an important component of the supervision system in China. This article, based on an in-depth investigation on the supervision work of the people's congresses and their standing committees at various levels in Guangdong Province, analyzes the actual situation of the supervision by the people's congresses in Guangdong Province with respect to enhancing the capacity of the supervision, raising the consciousness of the supervision, innovations in the form, and the content and mechanism of the supervision. The article points out that the practice of supervision by the people's congresses in Guangdong Province is an epitome of the efforts made by the people's congresses of various provinces and municipalities directly under the Central Government in actively promoting the supervision work and that summarizing the achievement, effectiveness, and experience of supervision by the people's congresses in Guangdong Province is of great importance to improving the system of supervision by local people's congresses in China. <<
