In 2012, the Research Team on Rule of Law Studies in China, Law Institute, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences(CASS)carried out a quantitative evaluation of judicial transparency of the higher people's courts of 26 provinces and municipalities directly under the Central Government and the intermediate people's courts of 43 larger cities. Based on the evaluation, this report uses objective data to directly demonstrate the situation of disclosure of information with respect to the basic facts about the courts, litigation guides, the trial of cases, execution of judgments, and judicial statistics, summarizes and analyses the progresses made and the problems existing in the implementation of the system of judicial transparency by the people's courts, and explores various approaches to further improve the system of judicial transparency.
