In 2014，the preservation of historic city has made new progress in Beijing in the following ways：the preservation of historic monuments and sites，historic conservation area and historic urban area are under steady advancement，relevant acts and regulations have been carried out；brand historic and cultural festivals have attracted large volume of masses，social benefit of the festivals is gradually revealed；the foreign historic cultural exchange has turned a new page，the influence of cultural communication has been promoted. At the same time，the conservation of historic city still faces many problems like the lack of promotion of overall efficiency，the conflict of conservation of tradition and modern development，as well as the deficiency of long-term mechanism and excavation of cultural connotations，this paper offers relevant suggestions considering the above problems.
