After falling into deep recession, the economy in the Nordic countries regained dynamics in the period covered by this Report. Although the economy in the Nordic countries as a whole performs better than the other European countries, especially with regard to employment and public finance, there is still much to be done for it to return to the pre-crisis levels. Parliamentary elections were held in Finland and Denmark respectively in 2011, resulting in changes of the domestic politics in one way or another. All the Nordic countries took a more positive role in the military operations against Libya, with Norway, Sweden and Denmark having participated directly in the actions in Libya.
