The Greek economic situation is worsening in 2011 and its escalating sovereign debt crisis has forced the Euro Zone to take further rescuing measures. The second bail-out package for Greece was agreed upon in July. But the new austerity measures put forward by the Pan-Hellenic Socialist-led government triggered a political turmoil in Greece. Continuous strikes and demonstrations were seen across the country, and in response to the intense social situations, PM George Papandreou had to reshuffle his cabinet for a second time. Meanwhile, Cyprus and Malta saw their financial problems exaggerating, which was threatening their political stability.
