Beijing and Shanghai are two of the most important cities in our country. Beijing is China’s political center，Shanghai is China’s economic center，they have their own unique charm，the two cities are also the metropolis which the general public desirable. For relatively objectively presenting Beijing and Shanghai in the majority of public image，Public opinion research laboratory of Shanghai Jiaotong university social survey center uses a “random telephone number dialing”（RDD）sampling method invited 36 cities nationwide respondents to evaluate the image of Beijing and Shanghai from ecological image，economic image，cultural image，residents image，government image and image promotion. Survey results show that respondents overall image of Beijing and Shanghai gave a high evaluation. Nevertheless，Beijing and Shanghai，the two cities can still learn from each other and build the image of the system to improve its own image.
