Resident image is one of the important components of city general image. In order to understand the resident image of cities in China，the Social Investigation Center of Public Opinion Research Laboratory of Shanghai Jiaotong University surveyed residents from 36 cities in China. The results showed that the image of resident quality is related with the economic development，city size，and city location，and Beijing，Shanghai，Hangzhou，Shenzhen，and Xiamen are considered to own the residents with the highest quality；respondents’ evaluation on the acceptance of the residents varies across regions，generally，first-tier cities in the east are considered to be most open to the external population；respondents’ selections of the most livable cities will take into account the level of local economy development and ecological environment，and Qingdao，Dalian，and Xiamen are the listed cities.
