In 2013，Shandong Museum collected and protected historical and cultural heritage，meanwhile held distinctive exhibitions and cultural activities. The museum also carried out significant activities of six parts，namely new collection and authentication of cultural relics，preservation and restoration，general investigation，open service，science popularization education，academic research. According to the assessment of current situation，this museum made great progress during the past years，whereas there still exists many problems，such as the lack of the high-level and precious cultural relics，professional skills of young staff have yet to be improved，the fund for temporary exhibition is quite deficient. The museum will resort to academic activities to improve young staff’s academic research level；seek for various ways of cooperation with other institutions；hold high-quality exhibitions to give full play to the collected cultural relics；expand museum influence from multidirectional aspects；improve public cultural service level and try to establish a popular service brand of Shandong museum.
