Based on the comprehensive review and sum-up of the experience and problems from China’s urbanization during the period of “the Eleventh Five-Year Plan”，the new tendency and task of such issue during the period of “the Twelfth Five-Year Plan” will be analyzed in this article. In order to promote the healthy development of urbanization in China in the next five years，we propose the following strategic measures：to transform the pattern of urban development，to promote urban compact development and strengthen the livable construction for the urban and rural areas，to improve the quality of urbanization，including the national and regional urbanization system，to promote the balance between urban and rural development and balanced development between regions，to stimulate the vitality of small and medium cities and towns，to lay a solid development foundation for the urbanization and so on.
