There were some improvements in the overall conditions of the people with disabilities in 2008：Some increases have been achieved in the income，living space and ownership rate of telephones and home appliances of families with disabled people. Their marriages remained stable and the proportion of those receiving rehabilitation services，social security or participating in community activities is growing. The degree of their satisfaction with community service and obstacle-free facilities also rose. However，their educational attainment remained to be low，and the registered unemployment rate in urban areas slightly increased. Overall，the well-off progress of the people with disabilities has moved on，but it’s still much lower than average，which calls for special attention and support from government and society.
