Many new discoveries of Eucommia have caused great concerns at home and abroad. The modern Eucommia industry with four key areas，i.e. rubber industry，medicine and health，healthy diet and safe food，ecological construction as the core，is underway. It will be possible to form a strategic huge green industry cluster in the future. This green industry will be base on Eucommia as raw materials，with Chinese intellectual property，and can output value of several hundred billion RMB directly and associated with other productions. At present，revolutionary innovations have been achieved on Eucommia breeding，cultivation models，rubber extraction techniques and its related products. Particularly，the innovation of breeding and cultivation model laid the foundation for modern Eucommia industry. The authors regarded that the current modern Eucommia industry is facing problems such as a shortage of resource，non-uniform knowledge，small industrial scale，low utilization levels，etc. In view of the important strategic value and potential development of Eucommia，the authors suggested that the industry should attach great concern and national Eucommia rubber reserve system should be built. Technological support on Eucommia breeding should be strengthened. The Eucommia base construction should be guided scientifically to increase the resource. The protection of intellectual property of new Eucommia varieties should be strengthened.
