Based on the survey data in Shanghai，this article analyzes the implementation status and effects of the point-based residence permit system. With supports and expectations from the public，the point-based residence permit system still has some issues which can not be ignored in the implementation. This report puts forward specific suggestion to improve the point-based residence permit system，and conducts a preliminary analysis on the population control in Chinese metropolis.
