加拿大的慈善和非营利机构达到17万个，位居世界第二，平均约每200位加拿大国民就享有一个非政府组织（Non-GovernmentalOrganization，NGO）提供的服务。受聘于慈善和非营利部门的加拿大国民达到200万，占全国经济活动人口的11。1%。加拿大的慈善和非营利部门创造了国民生产总值（GNP）的8。1%，NGO与政府部门、商业企业共同成为影响加拿大社会经济发展的重要力量。近年来，NGO在为加拿大社会做出巨大贡献的同时，其自身发展也面临一系列挑战。
<<There’re 170，000 charities and nonprofits in Canada，which is No 2 in the world. Every 200 Canadians will enjoy the service provided by an NGO. There’re 2 million Canadians employed in the charitable and nonprofit sector，accounting for 11.1% of the economically active population in Canada. Charitable and nonprofit sector contribute about 8.1% to Canadian GDP. Together with government and business enterprise，NGO becomes an important force in the socio-economic development of Canada. In recent years，NGO has made tremendous contributions for Canadian community，but it is also facing a series of challenges.
