2010～2012年，广州市作为节能与新能源汽车示范推广试点城市，累计示范推广了2771辆节能与新能源汽车，超额完成国家试点任务。形成了较好的新能源汽车应用与产业发展环境。2013～2015年，广州市再次进入国家新能源汽车推广应用试点城市，在公交、出租、公务、专用车和私人用车等领域推广规模达万辆，力争在配套设施、管理平台、研发与产业化方面再上新台阶。
