The Digital Divide has indicated the widening social and economic disparities，both regionally and globally. The phenomenon has caused serious concerns across the world. Many countries have been taking vigorous measures to promote a balanced growth of information technology and its application so as to keep a balanced social and economic development. In this report，author pays an attention to the challenge of public policy and public interest regarding closing the digital divide in United States，and focuses on exploring the motivation，strategy and effective mechanism that come from the US government to bridge the Digital Divide. We may learn a lot from American experience to incorporate it in our practice when we are making efforts to narrow the Digital Divide in China.
