This article summarizes the historical process in which the socialist legal system with Chinese characteristics was proposed and established，analyzes the great significance of establishing the system to the development of the rule of law in China，sums up the legislative experience accumulated in this process，and puts forward recommendations on the further improvement of this system. The article points out that the establishment of the socialist legal system with Chinese characteristics has only basically changed the situation in which there is no law to go by. Further efforts must be made in the future in order to build China into a socialist state under the rule of law.
