In the context of the global financial crisis and European debt crisis，some drastic changes have taken place in the relationship between Britain and the European Union，particularly since the Conservative-dominated coalition government took office. This paper examines the UK-EU relations between 2010 and early 2013 in security and defense，budget，and economic governance，explores the change and continuity in Britain’s role in the EU，and predicts trends in Britain’s relations with Europe after Cameron’s recent speech on the proposed referendum on British membership. The author argues that the development of this highly controversial relationship in this period is the result of complicated interactions of the changes on the levels of the global power structure，European regionalism and British domestic political economy，and that it will have great impact on Britain’s role in the world and the future of European integration.
