Food safety is a heated issue attracting the close concern of the public,and how to tackle the key and difficult problems in food safety regulation is a systemic project requiring the concerted efforts of all related parties. The clear definition of responsibilities in the company,the composite force from regulation,the reasonable guidance of the media and the correct understanding of the public on food safety are the important and indispensable means for ensuring the basic food safety targets of "Safe and reliable food". We reviewed the development in various fields of the food industry in 2011-2012,analyzed the achievements and drawbacks in food safety of China in the past, regarding the legislation and standards, overall condition, adverse events of food safety, etc., and envisaged the policies of food safety regulation in the future.
