The Tenth Conference of the parties of “Wetland Convention” in Oct. 2008 and the opening of Himalayan region plateau wetland strategic protection seminar in 2008 held great concern of the important functional value of China’s plateau wetlands and their protection. It shows the consistent concern of the international society to plateau wetland，following by the eighth “Wetland Convention” parties’ conference meeting and many strategic seminars about the Himalayan region plateau wetland protection. However，due to the lack of awareness of the important functional value of plateau wetlands；driven by economic interests and survival demands of the surrounding communities；and unreasonable use of wetland resources；those above kind of socio-economic activities of mankind is no stranger to the plateau wetland region，which result in many more environmental problems. Looking back on the relevant events of plateau wetlands in 2008，the environmental situation they are facing will take in new forms and characteristics，which will bring more difficulties and greater challenges in the protection of the plateau wetland.
