This paper discusses the Chinese medical security system with Chinese characteristics. The author thinks that it should possess the following seven essential features for a social medical security system with Chinese characteristics that can meet the reality’s needs effectively，such as，full-scale coverage，ensuring the essential medical services，multi-compensation，enhancing the medical salvation，management type，socialization and integration.
