The article introduces basic concepts and status quo about conversion of resource type city at first. And then，based on the foreign cities’ transformation main models，including market-oriented and government-oriented，and experiences，this article analyzes the characteristics of Fuxin，Daqing，Jinchang，Xiaoyi，Jiaozuo，Hebi，Loudi and Panzhihua，and discusses the problems in transformation and solution schemes. Lastly，the author points out that new trends of urban development are circular economy and construction of the ecological city in the future.
