This paper reviews the policies and regulations on urban renewal released by Guangzhou Municipal Government in time series.The paper also analyzes the historic cause of the formation of villages in urban area，comments on different approaches adopted by government in different periods and introduces the current urban renewal policy.Taking Wenchong Village as an example，this paper takes an overview of Wenchong Village and introduces the formulation and approval process of Wenchong Village renewal proposal，and analyzes the relation among participation bodies，including local government，the village’s former collective economy organization and former villagers.Based on the above analysis，this paper holds that the coordination of stakeholders is the key premise to promote the renewal.Meanwhile，this paper proposes related policies and proposals from the perspectives of improving regulation standard，rationalizing the relation in the organizations at the grass-roots level and focusing on non-physical space renewal，with the hope of assisting Guangzhou on urban renewal in the next stage.
