The international price of coal has skyrocketed，and China coal industry also has gained unprecedented developed，even hard to buy in the first half of 2008. However，with financial crisis throughout the world，the glorious past of the coal industry is no longer available in the second half of the year. As a turning point，the coal price is to the downside in July. Together with the transmission of slump demand in downstream industry，the coal industry faces pressures from supply and other aspects. However，challenges can be turned into opportunities. Under the new economic circumstances，there is no need to meaningless sigh for the coal industry. For enterprises，it is the best choice to turn a stumbling block into a stepping stone，and then seize opportunities by sizing up the situation. Based on coal industry，this report analyzes the operating situation of it，and predicts that it will keep falling in the short run. On this basis，we also analyze the opportunities and challenges，which brings by the economic crisis. And then we give some related suggestions of the development of coal industry.
