在2008年，澳门居住人口已达55。2万人，土地面积为29。2平方公里，平均人口密度约每平方公里1。8万人。2007年，澳门总共迎接了2699万名入境旅客，其中约有61%经陆路，33%经海路，5%经空路入境。居民及旅客是澳门交通基建及其他设施的服务对象。到2008年止，澳门对外及内部交通设施服务以及水电、污水等基本建设情况，将是本文讨论的主要内容。
<<In 2008，the resident population in Macao has reached 552000，and the total area of Macao is 29 square kilometers，with the overall density of population at about 18000 per square kilometer. There were about 27 million tourists visited Macao，61% of whom arrived by land，33% by sea，and 5% by air. Residents and tourists are the main users of transportation and other infrastructure in Macao. Land transportation being the main mode of internal and external travel for residents and visitors，it will be the emphasis of this chapter.
