Starting from a short review of Macao’s pre-handover gaming history，this report systematically describes the developmental progress of the industry of recent years，especially 2007 and 2008，based on which，the report stresses the positive role that the gaming industry has played over the past several years for Macao’s whole economic development. It also points out some difficulties and potential problems with Macao’s gaming market as well as some uncertain factors that might negatively affect the sustainable development of the industry. This should to some extent be regarded as a valuable reminding for Macao society to improve its gaming regulatory institution and establish a healthier industrial mechanism.
