This report examines the history of the old city of Guangzhou，analyses the present heritage resources，summarizes the cultural features of Guangzhou City and studies the present situation and existing problems of the protection system of the historical and cultural relics of the old city in Guangzhou. It further proposes three suggestions：1.Intensify efforts on the protection of cultural heritage of the old city in Guangzhou；2.Market “lively” Cantonese historical constructions；3.Pay attention to the sustainable development of the old city in Guangzhou.
