With the economic growth and idle time increase, fairly well-off China has stepped more or less into a mass leisure society. However,in a crowded, busy and blue sky dwindling metropolis,a discussion about slow and leisure life becomes ‘scarce resource’. In Chinese history, leisure tradition has been cherished and even in current impetuous era the pursuit for “slow life” still can be founded in communities of cities such as Chengdu and Beijing. Reflecting on the illness of urbanization.,the author points out that a discussion on constructing humanistic cities involves the thinking about leisure and health, and the following trends make the discussion worthy of more attention in the future:first of all, growth mode of emphasizing GDP regardless of environment cost has failed. Secondly, ideology of wealth and happiness is undergoing profound changes and the idea that human development itself is a wealth becomes prominent. Thirdly, changing the mode of growth and giving more emphasis on ecological balance has provided a vast room for the discussion on leisure and healthy issues. In the new platform to deepen reform and pursue higher quality development,it will be a test for a civilization to adopt a culture of leisure, and to protect environment and keep more leisure while maintaining economic growth.
