The service and management of the floating population is an important aspect of social management and social construction in Beijing in recent years. Although the proportion of the elderly floating population is not high,it attracts more and more attention as aging becomes a prominent social issue and the trend of family migration is rising. The mainstream media like People’s Daily gave reports on the livelihood and mental status of the floating elderly population in Beijing. This paper analyzes the basic situation and living conditions of this social group and the reasons why they migrate to Beijing,and,based on the interview in a community in a Chaoyang District of Beijing,this paper analyses what the floating population care most and the main difficulties they face. In addition,some policy suggestions are put forward from the theoretical perspective of social support and social identification,etc.
