The current study identified the concept of social identification from a macroscopic view, which consists of social harmony perception, social equity perception, and social safety perception.Existing research and findings on social harmony, social equity, and social safety were reviewed and summarized, which served as the theoretical basis of the study.A total number of 1050 respondents from 35 cities were investigated. Results suggest that Chinese citizens’ perception of social harmony and social safety was relatively high, while the social equity perception was relatively low.The perception of social harmony, social equity, and social safety were all found to be influenced by the demographic, economic, and social supportive factors in different ways. The findings provided more specific strategies for improving Chinese citizens’ social identification.
