This paper generalizes the new progress in conservation of historic city in Beijing，which manifested in several different aspects，including the great achievements of key projects of conservation of historic city，the steady progress of conservation of historic urban area and ‘One Hundred Historic monuments Repair Project’，the effective inheritance of historical resources，the development of protection of intangible cultural heritage and the breakthrough of legislation work of underground archaeological remains. But there are also some problems in the conservation of historic city in Beijing，like the integral consciousness and the concept of system protection remains unclear，the excavation of traditional culture connotation and the deep exploitation of cultural resources need to be promoted，this paper offers some suggestions considering the above problems.
