Urbanization includes urban land expansion，improvement of urban construction，the evolution and spread of urban residents’ lifestyle and values，and further modernization and intensification of economy and society in existing cities and towns. That is to say，material civilization，spiritual civilization，political civilization and ecological civilization all should be enhanced and expanded. The main achievements in the urbanization of Guiyang city are as following. The urban infrastructures and ecological civilization are rapidly constructed；infrastructures in small towns and cities are continuously improved，and vibrant urban are strengthened；fixed-asset investments in cities are fast increased；the living quality of urban residents are perfected；the supporting role of urbanization is significantly stronger. However，there are some problems and restraining factors in the development of urbanization in Guiyang. Industrial base which support urbanization is not stable；the level of urban infrastructures is not suitable for economic and social development；the urbanization is not balanced；urbanization construction lacks characteristic；urban management systems fall behind. Thus，this report proposes some countermeasures to promote the urbanization development of Guiyang as following：perfect the urbanization systems；improve the urban functions；adjust the industrial structure to promote its optimization and reorganization；attract foreign investment to speed up independent innovation and technology flowing；enhance the system innovation and build the social environment for urbanization development；take the road of sustainable development to promote the harmonious development of towns and cities.
