In his first year in office in 2007 President Calderón implemented such powerful policies as curbing organized crimes and drug trafficking，adjusting foreign policies，and waging fiscal and social security reforms.The economy kept on growing，but at a slower rate compared with 2006.In the diplomatic area，Mexico made efforts to further develop its relations with other Latin American countries. Regarding the bilateral relations between Mexico and the United States，migration and anti-drug trafficking were the two major issues.Social situation remained stable，but performance of the indicators for social development was mixed.
