Since 1995，Chinese government has formulated and promulgated three programs for women’s development in China. The three programs have accelerated the process of gender equality and women’s development through institutional building and promotion of policy in the 20^th and 21^st century，and are significant landmarks in the history of women’s movement in China. The State Council promulgated on July 30，2011 the“Program for Women’s Development in China（2011-2020）”. This new Program adopts the principal state policy of achieving equality between men and women as its central theme，and the purpose of promoting gender equality through gender mainstreaming. It emphasizes the assurance of women’s livelihood through the protection of the improved basic public services. This Program has led Chinese women on a new journey towards gender equality and women’s development in the direction of realizing“China’s Dream”.
