Serbia held the presidential, national and local parliamentary elections simultaneously in May 2012. Tomislav Nikoli, the leader of the Serbian Progressive Party, was elected President. In July 2012, a new coalition government was formed by the Serbian Progressive Party, the Socialist Party and the Party of United Region. Economic development, fighting against corruption and dealing properly with the Kosovo issue are among the new government's policy priorities. The Serbian economic growth lost steam, with a rising inflation and increasing debt level.
