The victory of two pro-EU parties in the Dutch parliamentary election in September 2012 was hailed by some as a positive sign for the EU's policy in support of fiscal discipline, and great hopes have been placed on the new government. Despite the deterioration of its economic situations, the Netherlands still ranks among the most competitive economies in the EU. Its social policy reforms reflect the issue of livelihood faced by the Dutch people. However, the Netherlands' European policy is likely to be affected by the Euroscepticism held by some Dutch people. China and the Netherlands have deepened their high-level communications and further expanded the bilateral trade cooperation.
