The most significant overall U.S. foreign policy shift in recent years has been the announcement of the so-called Pacific Pivot, and later the "Rebalancing" which means U.S.shifts attention and resources to the Asia-Pacific. Barack Obama proclaimed himself "America's first Pacific president" and pointedly reassured that the 21st century promises to be the American Century. This policy move was primarily driven by the military-industrial complex and American ambition to lead the Pacific among others. The military-industrial complex is used to signify the special relationship that can develop among military,defense-contractors and congressmen in the Capitol Hill. America's new Asia-Pacific strategy, nevertheless, created unnecessary tension in Asian Pacific region.
