There are significant achievements have been achieved for the development of higher education in Henan Province. What is noticeable is the continuous acceleration for the development of higher education in Henan Province since the reform and opening up and the new century，obtaining the double improvement on and the scale and quality，realizing the promotion from elite education to popular education and then to universalized education，and greatly improving the per capita education level of the population of Henan Province and contributing a great impetus to the economic and social development of Henan Province. However，there are relevant problems troubled the higher education of Henan Province，including a relatively insufficient high quality higher education resources and a relatively inadequately popular and competitive higher education，as well as an urgent demand on improving high level scientific research capabilities of colleges and universities. Emphasizing on quality，the development of higher education of Henan Province shall take a road of connotative development，characteristic development and localized development in the future，so as to effectively promote the high-quality development of higher education of Henan Province and realize a historical leap from a large higher education province to a strong higher education province.
