The UK film industry during 2021-2022 continued to be adversely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic，but recovered significantly with state promotion policies. In 2021，both the UK box office and cinema admission picked up to a large extent. The box office shares of UK films（41%）remained high，leaning more heavily on UK-US co-productions；the share of independent films（5%）declined bleakly，although rose to 12% in the first half of 2022. The UK films’ global box office share rebounded to 19%. The Top 20 Films continued to be monopolised by Hollywood blockbusters as well as UK-US co-productions. The number of films produced and the total UK production expenditure also increased. British film talents won 16% of key international awards. In the first half of 2022，due to the relaxation of pandemic prevention and control policies，the UK box office and cinema admission rebounded further，and production expenditure almost returned to the pre-pandemic level. No Time to Die and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness were box office hits；The Father and Belfast were honoured with artistic awards.
